Marai Nikki
Anime Introduction: This anime is a mind game, psychological thriller that has a great concept. It follows main character, Yuki, and his "stalker"; a girl named Yuno. They're bound together by a game that developed from a god of Yuki's imagination with a twisted sense of entertainment. They, along with several other people, take part in a Battle Royale where the last person standing wins the powers of a god. Episodes: 26
Genre: Psychological Thriller, Action, Supernatural

May contain spoilers.
- Spoiler:
After watching two episodes of this anime I am both interested in the story and repulsed by its characters. Yuki is a boring, pathetic, sad Ash Ketchum type individual who seemingly has no appetite for life or drive to survive. Yuno is an interesting person, with some clear strengths and intelligence yet she fawns over Yuki for no clear reason. Her love serves the purpose of making it easier for Yuki to survive in the game, and could theoretically help keep Yuno alive as long as they work together but despite her attractive features she still has obnoxious pink hair (in a setting where the majority of people have typical and realistic hairstyles) and she has a seemingly random interest in what appears to be one of the worst main characters an anime could have. This anime has concept going for it, but its cast of characters aren't a group I can invest emotion in to.
At this point I'm hoping the characters can develop a bit, or at least we can gain some more understanding of them, as right now the only thing going for this anime is plot. I haven't grown attached to or noticed the music, nor is the setting anything glamourous or unique. It's not a failure yet though as its concept is riveting.
I will update this review as I continue to watch the anime! Feel free to disclose your thoughts on this anime, but make sure to spoiler anything that may give away plot for anyone watching or interested in watching!
